IPC Foundry Group
JCP Certified Investment Casting Foundry
As of July 2025, IPC Foundry Group is JCP Certified under DD2345 and approved to receive unclassified DoD technical data. IPC is positioned to support U.S. Defense OEMs with precision investment castings in dozens of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, including stainless steel, duplex steel, nickel-base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, low-carbon steel, tool steels, brass, cast iron, copper, and more.
About JCP
So, What is JCP Certification?
JCP Certification (Joint Certification Program Certification) is a designation that permits companies to access unclassified U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) technical data, commonly referred to as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). With access to CUI, foundries can collaborate with defense Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to produce key components while also protecting sensitive government information.
Put more simply, if IPC were selected to work on a defense contract producing submarine components, JCP certification would be required to access the pertinent design files and other technical information needed for the casting(s).
To achieve this certification, companies must meet specific criteria demonstrating their ability to handle sensitive information, maintain data security, and comply with a series of regulations. JCP certification is crucial for businesses serving the defense industry.
JCP Certification 101
Why Does JCP Certification Matter?
As mentioned above, certification allows us to access unclassified technical data. For defense-related work, this is a non-negotiable step required to begin production. Beyond the basics, JCP Certification matters because it signifies that our foundry or other certified suppliers meet strict standards for security, quality, and process control required by the U.S. Department of Defense. Even outside of these industries, JCP certification provides unique value to any customer.
Applications Beyond Defense
How JCP Certification Benefits Every Project
A foundry with JCP Certification can benefit your business regardless of your industry. Browse just a few of the ways below!
-
JCP Compliance highlights the ability to manage sensitive technical information or intellectual property securely and responsibly.
-
Meeting JCP standards involves disciplined processes, comprehensive documentation, and consistently reproducible production results. These quality standards translate across every industry and project.
-
Meeting DoD standards demonstrates reliability you can count on regardless of your industry. Customers can have confidence that projects will be completed on time with consistent quality.
-
If your projects move into the defense space or other regulated sectors, IPC is already certified to support your production efforts.
How IPC Got Certified
What Did We Do to
Achieve JCP Certification?
We made several upgrades to our facilities at IPC to enhance our operations and meet the standards for JCP certification. One key aspect of obtaining JCP certification is comprehensive cybersecurity. To meet this demand, we built a robust in-house server to store project data securely. Additionally, we conducted staff training on how to manage controlled data and handle secure materials. All of these improvements were made in accordance with NIST 800-171 guidelines.
We already had numerous production and QC processes in place, but we expanded and refined them where needed to meet DoD standards. Maintaining JCP Certification requires periodic audits to ensure ongoing compliance; our strong culture of continuous improvement will help us to meet and exceed those requirements. Our commitment to excellence goes beyond the baseline JCP standards as we work toward CMMC 2, ITAR compliance, ISO 9001, and other elevated quality and security benchmarks
(more on that later).
Without getting too detailed, we also introduced several physical changes to our facilities to increase security, such as a physical barrier around our parking lot to meet JCP standards.
The Road Ahead
What’s Next for IPC?
JCP Certification is just one more step towards more rigorous compliance and certification standards we are working to achieve at IPC, such as CMMC Level 2, ITAR, ISO 9001, and beyond.
At IPC, we view our JCP Certification kind of like a Learner's Permit for a new driver. Just as a new driver can get behind the wheel and practice parking, merging, traveling on the freeway, or parallel parking, with our JCP certification, we can practice and refine our cybersecurity efforts and new systems while continuing to produce exceptional cast parts. It also lets us expand our footprint into dozens of new industries.
Here's a quote from our engineering department on our next steps following JCP Certification:
"JCP gives us the green light to start working with DoD contractors while we continue refining our systems. Sales can now reach out to government contractors to initiate projects, and, as we land contracts, we have the processes in place to handle the work. Over the next three to six months, we'll identify and close any gaps and build on what we learn in real-world scenarios. That will set us up for the full CMMC Level 2 audit and subsequent certification."
Conclusion
Set Your Expectations High with IPC
IPC is committed to being a production partner you can count on for all of your metalworking needs. From 3D Printing and Prototyping to Machining, Non-Destructive Testing, and, of course, high-quality investment casting. We are uniquely committed to going the extra mile for our customers.
Here's Blake Williams, President of IPC Foundry Group, on that commitment and what’s next:
"IPC Foundry Group exists to solve problems for our customers — whether that means tackling complex projects, scaling production, or innovating with automation. Our JCP certification is a big first step in bringing our capabilities and capacity into the defense sector, where high-quality, reliable partners are needed more than ever. With ISO certification expected this year and CMMC Level 2 close behind, we're building the foundation to serve defense and aerospace with the same technical excellence and problem-solving mindset that defines us today."
